HUmmm you should call BMW NA and ask... or check with a few dealers... I know for my previous MINI the airbag system had a separate longer warranty... Not sure what BMWs are... but I would assume they're similar... so if thats the case the restraint system might have a longer warranty period.
When it comes to restraint system, looking for "cheapest solution" isn't really the best solution. A BMW is not a cheap car, and you need to be prepared for high repair bills when things go wrong.

Ya for restraint systems I would go back to the dealer... if its body work you can get by, by going to a good reputable body shop that does BMW cars. Like Spectrum Collision Center...
Have a question pertaining to this: Is the front passenger airbag supposed to be de-activated when there is not a front passenger present? In particular, should a yellow warning light be enabled in the overhead console when the front passenger is absent?
