hi, so i've been doing a lot of reading but think i need to ask for some help/advice.
so i have a 08 535i and the CEL popped up the other day and gave me a P0172. it ran good so i cleared it to see if it would come back. well yesterday i start it and its on again a running like crap. had a miss in 2 and 3 along with the 172. i turned it off and on and the miss was gone completely but the 172 stayed.
the car runs fine, just has a shaky idle but i think its due for another carbon cleaning anyway so i'm trying to figure out this P0172.
looks like most people say it could be a HPFP but since i'm out of warranty i'd like to see the other options before i just start throwing parts at it.
anyone else have any experience with this?
TIA

When I had my 04 530i I had that code p0172 and the code said it was bank 1 to rich and if you get p0175 thats bank 2 too lean. Then I got a bunch of misfire codes then cam shafts sensor codes, o2 sensor and the mtf codes. And I changed all that stuff and sill got the codes. Well it ended up being the manifold adjuster unit, there's a Lil plastic flap that breaks off on one side and it doesn't open and close properly, thank goodness the broke off piece didn't fall in the manifold. But anyway I got that part online for $175. But I also hear people getting a walnut blast and some other stuff for the 535's

04 and 05 e 60 530i have the m54 engine not the N54, big difference in engines...
M54 has a disa flap in the intake manifold and is a normally asperated engine.
N54 is a twin turbo charged engine.
Apples to Oranges comparisons...
