shows in display when its not open.Could it be ANOTHER S/W problem?

Open it up and close it again. It happens when you don't close it hard enough.

my530i is correct . it happened to me couple times. nothing happened after i slammed the sucker down .

experienced that b4, got out and found the lid to be closed tight, opened it and slammed it shut...warning gone!

Whoaaa! happen to me today too.. Was afraid since it was shut... solution as mentioned above, reopen/close again.
