My Ride: 2005 530i, Silver Gray Metalic, Black Leather, Cold Weather Pkg, Premium Pkg, Sport Pkg, Automatic, Xenon Headlights, Glass Moonroof, Dark Wood Trim, Lumbar Support, Adaptive Light Control, Navigation System, Satellite Radio Prep.
My 530i is a year old with only 12,000 mi on it. I took it into the dealer and they changed the oil per BMW policy. The counter said I still had approx 4,000 mi to go. The dealer said the BMW policy is to change the oil on a strick schedule. They said 15,000 mi or 1 year which ever came first for first oil change. They did not reset anything and told me to come back at 15,000 mi for a second oil change even though this will be only an additional 3,000 mi. Go figure.

Yeah, the oil service in my car is kind of strange too. I have put roughly 1,500 miles on the car already but the indicator in iDrive still shows 15,000 for oil service. Not only the oil meter, other indicators also seem to stay still. It has me worrying a little. I will wait for a little more while and see.

I dropped my car off at the dealer yesterday,my SA told me the car doesn't count down the mileage for oil change or the other services.I was about to blow up on him but I was too tired that morning. They think think they can get away with shit when things aren't going right by just saying "Thats normal on the car". So tired of hearing "Thats normal"

Here is a working oil countdown - mine. A little worried about brake CBS but I am really very easy on brakes.
