Hi All:

Do you have any thoughts on the following densitiy altitude calculations from SMOKEmUP?

Temp.--50F
Pressure--30 mercury
Dewpoint--28F
Altitude--1,550'
Calculated density altitude: 1,307.5'

Temp.--56F
Pressure--30 mercury
Dewpoint--28F
Altitude--1,550'
Calculated density altitude: 1,703.5'

I am surprised at the magnitue of the weather penalty for 50F versus 56F. Any, thoughts? Of course, there probably should be some penalty since the standard is 60F. At 60F, the density altitude goes to 1,963.8'. At 60F, density altitude is 1963.8', and it keeps going up from there. So, there is a benefit from 28F and 30 mercury.
Just checked my altitude chart and it looks like about .5% diff in correction factors. This would change a time of 13.50 to a time of 13.56.Sounds about right to me.

I'm sure the Phoenix police department would find all your posts most interesting.
Get lost.....

I find it interesting that you don't have the BALLS to post your location in your avatar....

I think you were just clocked doing 22 in a 20mph zone....throw that book at him....

looser...

I am surprised it took this long to get this kind of post.

Hey FastCarFan I come to a complete stop on the freeway, set the meter and then launch to 155mph.....get a life

Thanks for the welcome.

After reading this thread, I don't know how anybody would not infer that at least 2 board members are driving their cars (in AZ and PA) in a fashion that is illegal and irresponsible. I find that to be an issue that no forum should condone. So if this board chooses to allow members to make posts that repeatedly (and I mean very repeatedly) exhibit illegal behavior, I'm just saying that it seems troubling to me.

Overall, this forum seems like a great resource, but allowing members to discuss--and encourage others to participate in--disrespect for the law is troubling to me. And it's not an isolated incident--this thread has gone on for a very long time with numerous posts discussing illegal activity. I'm sure the law enforcement officials in these communities wouldn't find this acceptable.
I don,t know why you are reading this thread if you are not interested. For your information all of my testing is done on a road with no driveways or intersections and with no traffic in either direction. If I want to drive dangerously I just need to get on an Interstate highway and try to stay out of the way of people changing lanes without signaling and trucks driving at 80+ mph.I spend less than .1% of my driving time testing acceleration. When driving ,99.9% of my time is spent like most people, using all proper signals and courtesy's that I expect from other drivers.

Right, the difference doesn't make much difference.

Below is your density altitude--assuming that you meant for temp and dewpoint to be the same. If you want, please post your adjusted data, and I will post them on the other thread. Your 2/20 unadjsuted results are better than your prior unadjusted. So, I will swap the unadjusted 2/20 data for your old data on the other thread too.

Your results:
Air Temp 26 (?F)
Altimeter Setting 30.18 (in)
Dew Point 26 (?F)
Altitude 400 (Feet)
Density Altitude -1991 (feet)

Hey Znod, how about doing some before and after runs with regards to the Charcoal Filter?
Turns out that my filter is not the easy-to-remove type so I won't be taking it off.

Hi All:

Below are my major unadjusted and weather/altitude-adjusted data from yesterday and today. The beat goes on. I am struggling to lose about .07 in the 1/4. Then, guite a few of my unadjusted passes would start to fall into the 13.5+ category. I have had one unadjusted pass of this level to date--13.564 (i.e., cooler weather).

Unadjusted for Weather and Temperature

.................................5/3.........5/3...........5.4..........5/4
1/4 Speed............103.420...103.520...103.500...103 .240
1/4 Time................13.669....13.713.....13.665... ..13.723
0-60........................5.180......5.248.......5 .192......5.259
1/8 Speed..............82.330....82.200.....82.300.... .82.020
1/8 Time..................8.884......8.929.......8.882 ......8.926

Adjusted for Weather and Temperature

.................................5/3.........5/3...........5.4..........5/4
Density Altitude......1765.0...................1722.4
1/4 Speed............105.572...105.674...105.592...105 .327
1/4 Time................13.396.....13.439....13.400... ..13.457
0-60........................4.912......4.955.......4 .916......4.974
1/8 Speed..............83.215.....83.260....83.224.... .83.106
1/8 Time..................8.694......8.724......8.696. ......8.736

The phenomenon of my first pass on a given day being better than my second continues--even though I take a nice slow drive around the countryside between passes. It's hard for me to see that the heat-sink effect is what is causing this pattern. I don't see how I could be causing this systematic "problem." Any thoughts?

Sorry Znod I had a typo for dew point. It should have been 5 F.I have tried a few more 1/8 runs with temp at 32 F,Dew point at 18 F,barometer at 30.18.I am not going to bother posting all the numbers, but I had all 0-60 numbers in the 4.80's and 1/8 times all in the lower 8.60's with speeds all more than 83 mph.I am confident that I can repeat these numbers consistantly in this weather.I will wait for 60 degree weather to see if I can get similar numbers. When I first started testing in May of 05 I had a run of 4.85 in 60 degree weather.I discounted it because I could never repeat it.Everything was new to me at that time so I have no written documentation. However I do remember forgetting to turn controls off on some runs.I have no recollection if that was the case on this run,but the data I am getting now leads me to believe that it is possible. As soon as conditions are close to "standard" I will run more tests and post data.
