this gets me wondering - are all the the OEM wheels the same weight????
what about 124 vs M135? Are those M style ones a little lighter since considered as sporty ones?? IMHO I don't think that there is any major difference in between the BMW OEM wheels

This is interesting, I have to say, my first car with RFT and I would not want to go without again. Personally I cannot say I hear "more noise", I dont notice anything "too much". But on the other hand, I have not driven my car with non RFT, so I have no 1:1 comparison. Its ok for me, my ride is damn hard on the street anyway.
And the safety feature of RFT I love very much. I had enough tires blasted during driving already.
Interesting to here all you guys are not happy with them all!

Bridgestone RE050 RFT 245/45/17 95W =32 pounds
Michelin PS2 245/45/17 95Y = 24 pounds.
That is quite a lot of unsprung weight.
Manufacturers have spent years getting the unsprung weight down only to put it back on with heavy tyres!

I could not agree more.
8 pounds (3,6 kg) is a lot of extra unsprung weight!
But I also have to admit to the fact that 18" wheels and tires
weigh always more than similar 17"'s do.
A E60 does its best with 17"'ers.
The 16 inchers are too small, in looks at least,
and for the same reason the E60 needs 18".

60+ pounds!!! that really is a lot. I know rfts are heavy but that figure couldnt be just down to the tyres, the OEM rims must be very heavy too. I cant believe they pile on unsprung weight with the stupid rfts! What a waste. Unsprung weight tends to harm performance figures quite a lot from what I've heard.
p.s. As for rfts I've seen the light, my winter setup is non-rft and the difference in ride and noise especially the former is huge. Tiny bumps and cracks on the road are hardly felt now before it was crashy even on the best roads

I was cleaning my garage the other day and I had to move my summer wheels with Bridgestone runflats on them I had forgotten just how heavy they are. Is it the wheel or the tyre that makes it so heavy? I have lifted 18" wheels before but they were nothing like it. If its the Rfts I am definitely changing them for non-rfts next summer. Could it be that the oem wheels are very heavy as well?! If anyone has any idea of these weights please post

That's about what I came up with--61 and 66. Where did you get your very exact numbers?
