There might be a bit too much red tape by TUV, but in a way it's also good.

Not everyone understands the consequences of i.e. wheel mods made with
wild ET's and also the spacers should be used with some taught.

Indeed.Big changes in offset change the whole geometry of the car.
But if its minor i dont think there is a problem at least not a big one.

As Iceman already stated, all mods on the car need to be entered into the car's documentation, otherwise its illegal. In my case its a company car, so not only would I be at risk with the authorities and insurance, I could also end up putting the company in a nasty position, which typically isn't good for the career plans!

The real plus point, again as Iceman wrote, is the safety aspect. It is reassuring to know you can still take your car to the limits with the new mods. As for the burocracy, its a bit of extra hassle but not exactly a real problem.

I had some feedback from a German forum and Lissy-Car-Tuning-Parts who I purchased the wheels from. Should be able to get it sorted now...

unless mods like lights or spoilers carry an ABE, then they don't need to be registered in the car's papers, but can be used, although you always have to carry the relating ABE with your paperwork.
Although safe, TUV is well over the top in many cases and also a license to print money. But that's Germany for you. Everything 100% regulated and 1000% safe. It has made for a good reputation worldwide for quality products and engineering. As xBMWx said, wheels only usually come with a type approval paperwork, but still need to checked and registered on the car.

The funny thing about it is, there are ABE's that doesn't apply for Germany and you still need to register with the T?V.
Sometimes it's really annoyingly hard dealing with German authorities.

I finally had my M166s formally approved by TUV and entered into the cars registration documentation.

The actual act of having the car tested and the paper work is very straight forward and swift.
But getting past all of the burocracy / questions / mis-leading answers to get to that point, is definately not swift!

So if there is anyone in Germany who's planning on fitting these rims and getting them approved / entered into the cars documentation (Einzelabnahme Gutschrift & Eintragung), then feel free to drop me a PM for some advice and some reference documentation. It could save you a lot of unnecessary hassle.
