Anybody know if OBD is still being used on the E60 ??

Everywhere I looked so far lists OBD2 for every model apart from the E60 or cars which are 2004 onwards ? what replaced OBD2 or what is the E60/modern equivalent ?

It's still there. Not sure if BMW has a say in the matter. Probably not.

They don't ( have a say) Gov required , but not to say that 50% of the faults can not be read with a OBDII scanner on a BMW.
Primarily just Emissions and basic fault information.

The GT-1 is need for an in depth fault code read...

I don't know of a modern equivalent to the VAGCOM for VW's and AUDI's , but if there was one It would sell very well.
