I hate to complain but at least 3 times over the last month I have lost all sound inside the car. I notice it following a short period of the car being turned off. I leave home the radio is on and all works fine. I stop for gas, or a cup of coffee, start up the car and have no sound. No radio, no seat belt chime, no voice activation chime, nothing. I have tried rebooting the I-drive but that hasn't helped. The only thing I've found to fix it is shutting off the car. I know I need to take it back to the dealer to have them check it, I just wondered if others have had this problem. I believe I have 16.1 software loaded.

Never heard of this, but it sounds as if some module in the sound system isn't started up as it should. When I get into the car, I can hear that the speakers are switched on, ready to provide warning sounds etc. Maybe this is something that is not happening in your car. You can tell if the speakers are on by putting your ear to one, and listen for a slight noise that is present at all times.

I am having the same problem, except that for me, every morning i start up the car and there's no sound. Then, 4 hours later, I'll go to lunch and the sound is back and keeps working even that evening. This has been going on all week.
Called the dealer, says they've seen this before on a 745. Something about a communication bus called the "CCC". it's scheduled for the 21st
I'll let you know what happens.

What Maryland Dealer are you using that cannot get you in until the 21st?

If you live in the DC area, I would think either VOB or Tischer could get you in quicker than that.

BMW of Fairfax, I work in Tyson's corner.
I hear horror stories about VOB's service department and Tischer is too far.
