I took my 6 month old 2005 545 Sport (built 12/04) to my dealer for the first oil change and complained about several issues (tranny slam, navi reboot and so on). I've got the car back today. Looks like they installed the latest software (navi screen looks different and it allows voce entry for destination addresses). Anyway the software upgrade made my beloved luxo-barge 545 into something that feels and drives very much like my 2002 540 Sport used to. Active steering lost its light feel and dumbness, tranny lost relaxed cruising mode from which it would jump into a full attack mode and is now much more linear feel, suspension feels different and the car itself feels much smaller. I like AS change but overall the car feels slower though sportier. Just like my old 540 was. It made me think that BMW should make those setting available through the I-drive so everyone could adjust them to their liking and even change based on the mood. E.g. today I want to relax and drive smoothly, tomorrow I want to have some fun and so on. BTW should I be mad that they kept the car for 4.5 days just for oil service and software.

I would be very mad if they kept my car that long.

My dealer recently updated my software to version 19. I was previously on 16.2. I do not feel any any difference at all. The AS still feels the same and the suspension (sports setting) is still the same.

If thought the US sport package included Dynamic Drive and Active Steering (Until recently when AS was dropped and made an option)
