Talking

On my system, I say "save name" system replies- please say the name I say the name system says please repeat the name , then after repeating the name , system says please say the number when I have finsihed the entire number system says continue then I say "save".

This is the pro cedure in the manual as well. It works fine in my vehicle, with new model eject box and 11.2 software. My biggest complaint so far is that the signal strength is very poor compared to my previous phone, and I frequently get a "no network" message on the phone screen at the bottom, instead of the word "Portable".

Angry

One more thought- I expected that with the phone using the car's "shark fin" antenna that I would pull in a better signal than the phone unhooked from the car. What sort of signal strength are you guys getting, in comparison to your old phone? In most areas, I show zero or one bar, when I'm in an area that's hot is the only time I get all bars of signal on the idrive screen.

Unhappy

BTW, none of voice commands on your pdf file work on my car, but I don't have nav. Is this a requirement. I also notice the print out is from BMW Group. Isn't this Europe? Does anyone else have this problem or do I have to have nav for the voice commands to work? Anyone?

rainieriwm, "Save Name" simply isn't available on my car right now. I'm not sure what version of software I have but until my eject box gets replaced, it doesn't make a difference to me.

As far as signal strength, are you certain that the little rubber cap for the antenna connector on the back of the V60 is removed? I've heard of people putting the phone in the eject box with that cap still in place. If that is done, the shark fin isn't being connected.

FWIW, when my phone actually syncs with the car, the signal strength seems adequate but overall, I haven't used the phone enough to put any weight on my experiences alone.

Save name does not work on my car yet. Awaiting Version 12 to fix it.
But what I find interesting the command I got from BMW does not have a "SAVE NAME " command....

ranieriwm: Yes, you do need Nav for non phone-related voice command to work.

Question: I am not able to get the climate-related "driver <anything>" commands to work. I mean go in to climate control where you see driver/passenger vent settings and auto on/off. You're supposed to be able to say "driver footwell," "driver top," "driver middle," etc. I have not been able to get these climate commands starting with "driver" to work. "Passenger" <anything> works fine. Anyone else? Thanks.

Sam
