Hi,
V26.0 can use on E60. Bugs only for I-BUS Vechicles !!! V26.0 for e60 is the same as the V25.2.

BMW NA is very strict on upgrades and rightly so because they are time consuming and the technicians should be spending their time on cars with a problem. The reasons you listed won?t really go very far here.

if you don't have v25.xx yet, tell them you don't have navi pop up arrow on the assist window - a very valid reason. i like the pop up arrow, let's me know exactly when to turn by the exact distance.

I had my sept '05 550i s/w updated yesterday as it wouldn't play MP3s in the dash CD. It now plays them fine, and has the new look idrive. I can't say I've spotted much different, apart from the map display in the nav system being clearer (new colours). I don't know which version they put on. (UK dealer).
To be honest I did not see anything change when I upgraded my car to the latest V26.01 - still is the same!! The only msg i got was to change to LCM if I wanted the new LED lights to be functioning proprly.....
My dealership is still working on that ! and they are still waiting for a technical response from Germany on the retrofit and the LCM.
