I have to chime in here and agree with grogan and geobmw. I find the D mode in my 550 a bit slow off the start. In fact it is so noticable that I almost always drive in DS now. In my old 545, unless I knew I was going to be stepping on it, I kept it in D for daily driving around town.

I am one of those guys that tries to take really good care of their cars. Personally I stayed below 4,500 RPMs and under 100 MPH during the first 1,200 miles. Then up to about 2,400 I gradually increased my speed and RPMs yet stayed below 5,500 RPMs. Then I changed the oil... and MADE IT MY BITCH!
