Already in break in mode on my 550I.I vary the speed constantly, even up & down shift to vary the rpm's if I am at a constant speed.I have 250 miles on it and briefly hit 5500 rpm.I will change the oil by 750 miles and probably begin to go to redline.I believe all manufacturers are extremely cautious in the break in instructions. This is how I broke in my 545 and it ran great and gave me great performance numbers. My observations so far is that the new 550 feels a little more sluggish than my 545 at lower speeds, but with only 250 miles it's hard to properly evaluate.

So, your 545 was sluggish and your 550 is even more sluggish????
When I picked up my 550i at the performance center back in Oct. They told me to to keep it under 100mph & not go over 4000rpm. Not going past 100 was the easy part (sort of) staying under 4000 rpm was pretty hard. I got the oil changed right after the break in period.

No my 545 was not sluggish, but my 550 is sluggish compared to my 545.I will quantify better after break in.I made many 0-60 runs below 5 secs in my 545.I will be very disappointed if I can not better my 545 times.I am speaking of the throttle response in the 550 from a start. It does not respond as quickly as my 545.I expect this to improve with more miles.
