Hi chaps,

Noticed today that one side of my bonnet was not closed properly. Popped it open and closed again. Thought it would be fine but wrong - it still didnt close. The catches seem ok. I have lubricated but however hard you close it, the passenger side latch just doesnt catch the bonnet for closure. The drivers side one if perfect. The bonnet isnt bent at all so Im a bit losr on this one.

Anyone had the same problem or know what I could do to fix ?

Thanks

I think you can find some info on the forum, because I can remember seeing this before.
Did you search?

Thanks Antti.

Yep, had a search but only found issues with people who couldnt open it. Do you have any other keywords I can use ?

I took off the the bump stop, and adjusted the hook but that didnt help. I then removed the ook completely and checked the behaviour of the working catch/latch vs the one that wasnt working. I found the one not working was simply not locking because the mechanism had gotten a bit rusty. I forced it close and sprayed it liberally/generously with WD40. Tried it a few times and it locked fine. Attached hook back, then bump stop back and it worked!! Tried it a few times and its flawless.

Saved me probably £100, which bmw wouldve charged to fix.

Thanks for your help - really appreciate it. I will link the other thread to this one too for anyone else who has this issue.

peace out
