Okay, so I came out the other day to goto the Mavs game w/ a friend and as I rode off in their car, I checked out my car (naturally), and noticed a shovel sitting by it. Well, I jump out as if a family member had been killed and run over. I notice that there are two dents in the driver side door and gashes down to the metal. I'm pretty sure the shovel flew out of a construction truck, as if it was intentional they would've done a lot more damage with a shovel (and probably not left the shovel).
I took it to Classic BMW in Richardson, TX (just N of Dallas) and they quoted me $550 to fix the dents. This also includes repainting the whole door. Fortunately, the car is new and I have jet black, so matching shouldn't be an issue. I wanted to check with you all to make sure that they are good and that this is fair. Thanks for the help.
Any help is appreciated.
-Ryan

I think $550 is a bargain, by the way. I had to have my front bumper cover replaced and it ran $1,000. I should have just replaced it with a M-Kit.

Sorry about your door, $550 seems like a fair price, good luck.

Same thing happened to me. i was knocked by a reversing car and my side doors dented.I brought it to a bodyshop to fix it. $650 for total include repainting the door. I think $550 is a great deal..

I personally would never go to a BMW dealer to have repairs done on my car.
The reason?
Because you never want the dealer to know anything bad has happened to your car. One day, you might want to trade the car in... and you bet your ass the dealer is going to say: "Well... it's a great car, but you did have us do that paintwork... so we can't give you our best price on it."
Best to find a quality, independent repair shop and keep the dealer in the dark about it.

JDN,
Thanks for the advice. It was nice to meet you at the BMW CCA meeting tonight. Sorry I couldn't stay longer, I just have a lot of work to do. Next time, I'll stick around longer.
