My Ride: 2004 545i Sport: Titanium Gray on Gray Dakota with Black Poplar Trim, SMG Transmission, Active Steering, Logic 7, Navigation
Default

I am a new owner of a 2004 545i. As near as I can tell, the Nav System doesn't give me the option of searching Points of Interest (gas stations, restaurants, etc). Is that due to the version of the map DVD (I have 2004-2), or due to the version of the operating system? If I buy the updated map DVD from NAVTEQ, will I get the POI functionality?

Thanks in advance for all help!

My 2004 had POI's. Press the voice symbol/button on your steering wheel and ask for, "information". Your choices should be, current location and new destination. There you'll find POI's. I recently upgraded to the newest DVD, 2007-2. I like it way better, and the symbols for Banks, Restaurants etc. are better. Finally, the new DVD is less expensive at BMW. Navteq charges more plus shipping and handling. Go see your BMW parts person and compare prices for yourself. Feel free to email if you have further questions.

Thanks much for your reply -- I've now found the proper menu to access. I'll see about the DVD update soon -- our area has be growing pretty substantially in the past few years and many stores / restaurants / etc aren't listed in the 2004 disk. Time for an update!
