you put 20" rims ?

It probably does, I want to know if their are any E60 owners that have the navigation and have the 20" rims.

Did you have the navi. get re-programmed.

THanks in advance

My Ride: 535d Sport in Carbon Black / high gloss shadow line and beige leather / dark poplar with professional nav, bluetooth phone prep, CD changer, bi-xenon adaptive headlamps, servotronic steering, folding mirrors, heated comfort seats, TV, extended voice control and Logic 7 hifi.

I assume you'll be using lower profile tyres with those 20"s and therefore keeping your rolling radius the same?

The only time it would have an effect anyway is when the sat nav is forced into "dead reconing" - i.e. when sat lock is lost, so I wouldn't worry about it, unless you drive mostly in tunnels

Agree with above response. 95% of the time you are tracked by GPS satellites and you could have wagon wheels on there and it wouldn't matter. When satellites are blocked dead reckoning takes over which uses speedometer to predict your current location based on your last known position. changing the wheel diameter will throw this off a few feet I would think at the most. Since the accuracy of the GPS is about 15-30 feet depending on the number of locked satellites and the strength of the signals, there should be no practical effect. I would be more concerned about your speedo being off and your tire pressure monitor being off. I don't think it can be reprogrammed if you vary from the stock total wheel/tire diameter.

I don't think there is an issue here as you have to reset the system when you put new tyres on - given the system detects variation in rotation in one wheel, so long as all four wheel / tyre combos are the same, I don't see what the issue would be?

I noticed a problem with my nav. once I put on my goodyear F1 GSD3 tires. My navigation system was about 10 - 20 metres off. When I took my car in for a software update, they also fixed this problem.

P.S. Don't forget to reset the tire pressure monitoring system. I did this but my system was still off.

So I guess e60 owners in Pittsburgh had better stick with the stock rims.

Plus once you get out of the tunnel the GPS satellites will take over again... nothing much to really worry about.
