Navigation Question
08 535
My navigation system seems to have issues when I encounter either very cold or hot weather. The unit refuses to read until the interior temp. is brought to a normal level.
Is this a DVD issue or the built in dash unit? Has anyone encountered this?
If it is a DVD issue, I was thinking of updating my disc. What is the latest factory version or when is the next one due?
Thanks.

I had this problem AFTER I updated the disc in my previous E60. I don't think it is a disc issue, a friend mentioned that the laser in the DVD player tends to be temp sensitive and can have trouble reading the disc when cold.

May be a problem with a dirty laser. Try a laser cleaner disc first. I have used burned nav discs for a few years with no issues regardless of temp. I also clean my laser every year with a laser cleaning disc from radio shack.
