So I was screwing around with the navigation on my car and did a local search for gas stations in my immediate area. Now everywhere I go there are little icons on the map. I have spent at least an hour trying to figure out how to remove them, including reading the manual. Does anyone know how I can shut this off so I don't have blue icons all over my map? Its an 08 535i

Go to the menu on the left of the map screen.

I'm now saying this from memory.... I think the icon looks like an "i" for information. Kinda around the middle of the list. Select that. Depending on the age of your software it will either turn off the icons or bring up a page that will let you "hide" the icons.

That should do it.
