Couple things I've noticed:
1. My home address is not on it - 4years old new consruction.
2. My old place of work changed their name 10-12 years ago but shows up under the old one.

What is a latest version of Nav DVD and do we have to pay for updates?

I asked my dealer today and he said he didn't "think" there was a new DVD. He said that there was a single part number for the DVD no matter what version so he had now way of really knowing. I have a hard time believing this.

If there is a new DVD (my car is 3/04 build), I'd like to get it. Any idea of the part number?

Thanks

There is no version number on the CD. Most of the dealers charge about $125 for a new one.

My I-Drive would lock up when passing through Connecticut, so I got a new one for free.

I've got the 2004 2 disc. Today I was driving by a subdivision which wasn't even there last year and the streets showed up on my map so obviously some areas are updated pretty frequently. I was hoping to get an '05 disc with my mid December delivery but apparently they're not out yet. Navteq's site says a new one is available but doesn't say a version number.

Are the Navteq DVDs standardised? ie would a dvd for another make work in the BMW? Or are they exclusive to the car manufacturer they were made for? Has anyone tried putting a Navteq disc for a Lexus(just as an example, dont even know if they use Navteq) and seeing if it works? And also are there two different versions for Business and Prof NAV models or are they the same?

My disc is 2004-2 (which presumably is the same as yours. I am pretty sure that the 05 is out but not widely available.

As a frame of reference my 3 year old house is on there (actual DO was 4/25/02). It took about a year to get on mapquest etc because it was a completely new road. Took about 6 months to get into USPS database - Netflix kicked me out because they couldn't confirm it as an address. So 4 years sounds like a long time.

I think you are going to want to wait some time before getting a new disc and yes you will have to pay for it....

I'm pretty sure the discs are specific to each manufacturer. I know for sure the the nav CD from the E39 had to be a BMW cd, I assume that the new car works the same way...
