Thats not a bad idea , and does it not slide around there and surely it must block the idrive screen

I have only one pics of my garmin but I have mounted it like this. Just over the I-drive screen. It works perfectly and it doesn't cover anything.

I have a Garmin C320 and I love it. Works really well and I think its better than the Lexus Nav or I just prefer it more... the Garmin is more user friendly... and Lexus Nav is suppose to be better than BMWs NAV.
Now Garmin has a really nice compact NAV... I think you should look into it. Tom Tom is good too my uncle has one... the Tom Tom 700 or somthing like that and I've played with it. I think Garmin is more user friendly and has basically the same functions.

But BMW nav can be retrofitted.

Oh yes, BMW's: Siemens VDO is not the best as SW regards. So we skipped and saved 3000? at least, but I have BT and speakerphone and all EU also CZ,PL and Hun is coming out from TomTom , we got 700 GO BT but that does a perfect job, I can take it out for bike, another car just love it! Will post pics in the evening how it looks when on and there are plenty places to install or mount w suction cap.

some pics, now I am still using in the middle position on the windscreen, and I have now the permanent docking station so soon will be installed, the good thing is that you can anytime disattach from the holder as TOMTOM is like that.
so possible positions taking into account that normally I watch the iDrive screen for info like u know "computer", I have HUD so I cannot place it in front of.thx.

the 2nd possible position ( the suction cap was not attached) so that is why the position is not 100% correct
and I think as some members already suggested this position, so I will ask the shop to install there, but I only need to attach there the holder's lower part so not much cables. And then the not so nice holder will disappear.
Yes, it is nowhere nice my friends as your integrated ones, but the capability and the price is unbeatable.
I got all EU and even more,w one button I save my Favs, inits &POI is amazing. Also BT speakerphone and sms so check it out, fyi Garmin is awesome too, but they copied TT.
