Haha, it's always funny how all of the dealers I've talked to know less than the people on this forum! This forum should be part of their required reading...

On the other hand, yesterday my car decided to give me a different route from my house to my mother's house than it's ever given me before. The new route makes more sense if you know that the speed limits along the old route were changed from 55 to 35 a month or so ago.
It sort of freaked me out. I expected my car to start speaking to me in KITT's voice, "What's wrong, Michael? You know I'm learning."
My current theory is that usually I make the NAV request on the street in front of my house pointed SE, but yesterday I happened to start the NAV request from inside my driveway pointed NW. The 100 feet and different orientation would put me initially closer (as the crow flies) towards I-85 instead of I-285.
When I lived in Summit NJ, mapquest would suggest I take I-78 E for three miles to Garden State Pkwy S to NJ Turnpike S to I-95 S to I-85 S to get to Atlanta. One day I claimed I lived exactly one block west of where I actually lived and it told me to instead take I-78 *WEST* for 125 miles to I-81 S, to I-77 to I-85.
These are *completely* different routes. It turns out, BTW, that the difference in distance is something under three miles; however, the latter directions are much, much, much, much faster in practice because one never goes through anything approaching a major city. The last time I drove that route I got my Summit NJ to Atlanta GA in < 11.5 hours. That's pretty impressive... but I *was* driving a 540i.
Anyway, it's just an artifact of the search algorithm's heuristics I would guess.
Peace.

I wish I could change the voices for the nav, etc. That would be a cool option!

- GSM connection (too slow - takes days)
- GPRS connection (too slow - takes days- new)
- UMTS connection (too slow for downloading-takes hours and is very new and not implemented everywhere)
Is there a mobile build in
- Sattelite (very expensive and slow-BMW must be stuppid to add that)
the only way to have it fast is via: Direct updloading via Cable or CD/DVD
I hope this can help and close the issue about downloading automaticly
