It hasn't been at the dealer in between the pic with the coulored cover and the meeting?

It has, but only for software updates, the chrome kidneys and the carbaflo treatment. No body work of any sort.

Yeah, I did. I love acc in single file traffic, but curse the thing on roads with more than one lane.
One, people cut into the gap in front of you and two, at greater speeds it recognises vehicles in adjacent lanes as being in front.
In both cases the car breaks pretty fiercely.
I absolutely hate that. What where the BMW engineers thinking?! They take away a long established standard item as cruise control as a rewards for people that buy their gadgets.

BMW, I want to be able to disconnect the radar! It is a car, not rocket science!! FFS!

(thank you)

edit, that would be "brakes" fiercely..?

Finally, someone provides some verification as to my earlier suspicions. When I ordered my car back in November 2003, I had no experience with ACC and in my mind, thought about the possibility of these shortcomings and decided not to order it. Up until now, I only heard praise for ACC and figured that it was sophisticated enough to overcome my imagined shortcomings. I guess it's not. I'm hoping that with future generations, it'll be advanced enough that it will be worth getting but for now -- given that you can't turn it off -- I'm glad I don't have ACC.

Maybe for some strange reason the cover was missing when you gave them your car for the software update - and they noticed the covere is missing and put a new one on there...

Rudy, I do not have the problems with other lanes. The only problem I have with ACC is that it maintains about a 2.5-3 car gap between you and the car in front. This causes some people in other lanes to cut in front of you, and the car in front of you just assumes yuo are not trying to pass them since you are so far back. Other then that it works fine and I use it often.

To be fair, I am talking about occasions where I'm doing 110 and the rest of traffic is doing 65..

Oh, and the other thing. Some people do drive at 150mph for more than a few hours at a time. What is the idea with cc not functioning over 110? As if there is a chance I'm losing my concentration at that speed. Djeez!

I guess this is in the same category as 250 km/h limitation.

This is another scenario that I imagined would happen. To me, ACC won't work as well over here because drivers over here usually follow too closely, etc. If I choose to follow at a safe distance, or let ACC maintain a safe distance, people will be jumping in front of me all day and while they're moving forward, I'll be moving backward.

This scenario is the reason I figured it wouldn't be worth it to get the ACC.

This can happen, I agree... But you have four settings for the distance. The default is 3 bars, what is half your tach in meters, and then two settings that are shorter distances - and one which gives you a bigger distance... So you can chose the shortest, what is one bar, and that would be about a second in between your car and the one you're following.
