Mystery bolt on air dam
Somehow I knew this was going to be about the flies and not my missing paint.
I am in a severe state of confusion about the mystery I have been driving around with for many weeks now, and all I get is people threatening me with the RSPCA.
I think one of you replaced my bolt while I wasn't looking. Must have been that guy with those horrendous chrome alloys and the focklights.!
Yeah, that must be it..

Hehehe it had to be the dealer. I dont think the paint would just fall off completely like that ( unless you hit maybe somthing a little bigger then some of those bugs). I also don't think someone would have stolen it. If they did I don't think they would take the time to replace it with another one. I would take it back to the dealer and ask them to explain it. Did you have anything done to your car that would require the dealer towing it or work on the front end?

Seriously though, I don't have the Active Cruise, so I don't have the radar in the air dam. Do all cars w/ AC have this plug the Flowerfred is asking about, is it related to that? I don't have one on mine.

[/quote]I have it and I have Active Cruise. Maybe behind it is an adjustment for the alignment of the radar.
Fred, do you notice with your active crusie, even set on the shortest setting that it still keeps too great of a distance between you and the car in front?

Yeah, I did. I love acc in single file traffic, but curse the thing on roads with more than one lane.
One, people cut into the gap in front of you and two, at greater speeds it recognises vehicles in adjacent lanes as being in front.
In both cases the car breaks pretty fiercely.
I absolutely hate that. What where the BMW engineers thinking?! They take away a long established standard item as cruise control as a rewards for people that buy their gadgets.
BMW, I want to be able to disconnect the radar! It is a car, not rocket science!! FFS!
(thank you)
edit, that would be "brakes" fiercely..

All cars with ACC have it, behind it is the adjustment for the sensor.
I agree with the other replys. It's definately your dealer who did something and put the wrong one in there, or (and that's what happened, I guess) it went missing and your dealer put a new one in there.
Replacement parts are not painted. You would have to pay for it, to get it painted. That's the same with the cover in the rear bumper for the trailer clutch. If it's gone you can get a painted one you have to pay for, or a black piece...
I would ask my dealer what happened... and if he can paint it for you... (that shouldn't be expensive!)...
