The black exterior with the black interior trim really makes that natural leather pop. The shiny shadowline looks nice as well.

Hi xBMWx,

great car - great combination, and of course great wheels

ironically, today I test drove the 520d (163ps - did not have the 177ps) and I am probably going to go the other way

Unfortunately my SA got replaced by a lady who is selling cars for the first time - not only did she only offer me 38% of the LP of my car for my 24 month old 535dT, she also meant that she would not take the car back with winter tires - i guess she could not appreciate my 166 19" winter wheels

btw. post 7,4l in the city today with the 520d, that is slightly over 5l better than my 535dT... i can see you envious of my mileage shortly but then again, yours is a company car so consumption is not primary - lucky you

Thanks!

The 520d is a great car, but the 163ps version does struggle below 1800rpm and can be frustrating if you don't get the revs right from a standing start -- i.e. turbo lag / now power / no acceleration! I would also recommend the Auto, unless you like changing gears fast and a lot -- well that was my experience at least. Probably worth you test driving a 520dA 177ps, I have read a lot of good things about that set-up. If I was paying for my own fuel, that's probably the engine I would most likely go for -- well maybe after trying a 535d first like yourself!

As for your rims, you'll be needing those on your next 5er, right?!!

Another Beauty! Cool color combo
Regarding L7 - Make sure your comparing apples to apples using the same music and source such as CD. Even in pre-LCI, some artists CDs are better engineered than others and just sound better.

Thanks for the comments

As for the L7, I have tried it with the same CDs and it didn't sound that different. As I wrote before, I felt that it did not sound quite as basey/rich. I'm no hifi expert, so I'm possibly just letting myself be influenced by some of the other comments here in the forum and now listening for something that maybe isn't really there. That all being said, I am still happy with the sound!!
