The new i-drive looks very much the same as the new 7 series just released here.

Great write-up I have a 2008 E61 and love it.
I thought 2010 was the year that came out with a new 5 line-up but I guess I was wrong?

Thanks for the great teaser pics of the updated iDrive as well...I'm glad to learn that the speed/responsiveness is improved over the older models.
Hope the new car doesn't ever have to "do it's job" again!!
