I can't disagree with your point of view. In fact, had the car not been held up at the Vehicle Prep Center in NJ, I think I would have been driving the car by March 27th. Yet one must admit that there are substantial improvements (the new iDrive for one) in cars produced for North America starting March. What should BMW have called it - 2009 1/2? Then too, when BMW introduced the LCI cars in the Spring of 2007 they were called 2008 cars. So there is a pattern.

One additional reason for advancing the model year is to boost resale value of 3 year old cars coming off lease. We have an quaint (some would say queer) way of pricing used cars by model year, not mileage and time in service. Bringing out new models in the spring, rather than autumn, might make the car appear newer and result in a better resale price for the lessor ? or am I too cynical?

Congrats! Very nice ride. I'm considering what we should get as a family car once the lease on the MDX is over. I've been checking the E61 alot lately. Thats one sweet looking 5er.

Hopco

Thanks for the great report! I'm particularly interested in your postings since I've got a 2010 535XIT on order (ED June) and I'm trading in my 2006 530XIT. They are great cars! The change that really caused me to trade was the new iDrive, which I think will have the ability to keep up with new technology for at least another 4 or 5 years.
