So I went to the dealer to have some trim panels that were peeling replaced under warranty, and I mentioned to my SA that there was a tapping noise. However, I did not hear a tapping/clicking noise. I wanted to see what the techs thought about it, and they replaced the lifters.
I guess they can hear sounds better than me, or they simply replaced it with the better lifters to prevent future complaints.
Oh well, at least I got that out of the way

My Ride: 2006 525XI, Jet black on Dakota beige. Premium and winter packages. I consider myself a purist and intend to keep my car absolutely stock and shiny.
2008 328I Convertible, Sapphire black on beige interior. Premium package, NAV, iPod adapter.
Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.

hey guys,
I just noticed this ticking sound on my 08 528i with only 20k miles....as the TPM stated, it doesn't happen ALL the time. It will happen whenever it is "cold" or "hot". It has happened to my car i think 3 times in the past week. and it get LOUDER whenever i accelerate. I made a short video of what it sounds like when my car idles.
can you guys tell me if this was the same sound you were experiencing before you got the problem fixed?

hey again,
I have a service appt with BMW this Friday to get this checked out. I just thought I would ask again if this is the knocking sound that everyone is referring to? I'd like to make sure I actually have the problem before going in for service...
