i went to formation this mornin at 0430 plugged my phone into aux and was fine, had music, legal disclaimer etc..i then got back int the vehicle at 1200 it was 96 degrees out windows rolled up to my surprise the idrive did not come on.. insted u could see the backlight with a black black screen with very faint white lines..... still got all the chimes parking sensor still worked, no radio, no aux-in, no bluetooth, checked fuses in the trunk or boot radio amp, and video fuses were fine need to know if i can diagnose with inpa.... i can do simple coding with instructions

What equipment do you have? If you have a MOST coding equipment (OPS, etc), you could try just recoding the entire CCC. I would try that route before spending money.

I don't really know bout the combo box .but if u purchase a new unit it should b plug and play and controlled thru the idrive knob. I like bimmer tech stuff cause its an Oem upgrade. I myself am probably goen that route I have an 05 idrive system and want a newer looking graphics and system.
I think Gee_115 is giving u good advice to recode first ,,makes dollars and sense. If it don't fix the problem then go for the upgrade.

You are likely S.O.L. CCCs are known to die from heat - breakdown of soldering within microchips. Your options are to get a used CCC or upgrade to CIC. The later will open a path to Combox.
