And further more, does it depend on what NAV system you have?
I know that in the past only the Professional (with maps) version had it, I was suprised to find out that the Business model now also has this option.

but, the TMC, comes as standard in all the available navigation systems doesn?t it ? or is it an option ? I?m getting the Nav (if I do) mainly for the TMC and to be able to get the HUD, but if the TMC isn?t standard, maybe I won?t go for it.. The Pro nav, is should bring the 6 cd changer, Professional Radio and the 8.8 screen.. at least here in Portugal..
It?s really a shame that the car comes out and after about 6 months it still has unavailable options like these.. or options that come "cuted"... <_<

The TMC is according to the brochures and the iDrive available on the business navigation - however it isn't active unless there actually IS reception for RDS-TMC (which there isn't where I live, so I'm unable to give an absolute verification of it working on our car).
"Dynamic route planning" or something similar is also described in the manual for the business navigation.
TMC is definitely available on the professional version.

TMC present on your screen does not mean that you have TMC
i have all the menu items for TMC - the icon is shown as struck-thru and the system reports no reception
the UK has, like, 8000miles covered with TMC
i live just a tad southwest of london and i travel on major motorways
if the system worked it would work here - so maybe yours does not work but is simply 'there' as is mine
i read somewhere that it will disappear from view in an upcoming s/w update
and i suspect will return later when it is fixed and working
as for where, well, to my knowledge the info i have relates to UK spec but suspect that the heart of the systems are all the same and the same issues/glitches are likely to be worldwide

I am wondering about the same thing....
I know for sure that the TMC is not an option that you can add/remove. In the past all Business NAV systems from BMW did not feature this functionality, it was only available/added when you got the Professional NAV system.
Now when looking at the catalogus of the E60, it definately says that TMC is available/added when you get Business NAV system. I guess this is a new feature introduced by the new 5 Series and I guess that they just have some issue's with it that prevents the TMC from functioning right now (maybe a soft update will fix this?)
But then again, BMW also states that the standard A/C is automatic, the Professional radio supports MP3, etc....
