Got an email from the dealer today. Car has been built. Will be ready to collect in about 3 weeks time. FANTASTIC.

Anyone know how the cars get from Germany to the UK. Trains, trucks, boats?

I've quite enjoyed look at the factory website. Quite informative. Especially the virtual tour.

Trains are used for part of the journey. Not sure where to. Maybe from factory to boat, when they're off to the US.

New BMW cars leave the Plant for transport to the customer. Approximately half of all new cars are loaded on railway trucks (rail transport), the other half leave the Plant by road.
Maybe that answers my question.

UK bound BMWs built in Germany are shipped from Bremerhaven to Immingham on Humberside. They are then taken by road to the BMW GB import centre at Thorne (just off the M18 on the north side of Doncaster) for PDI prior to delivery to your dealer.

US built BMW's (Z4 and X5) are shipped into Southampton from Charleston, SC. They are also taken to Thorne before going to the dealers. This will explain why you will see transporters running north up the A34 or M3 loaded with new cars.
