Did you ever find out what was wrong with your 550?
As for the trim, I have opted for the "black diamond" instead of the Bambo. It will not have the depth or quality of finish of the Individual Piano Black, however I did not want to go with a wood or brown trim, was looking for a solid colour/finish and was not prepared to use 950EUR of my budget for Individual trim! And IMHO, all the trims have a plastic look anyway!
Here are a couple of pics of the black diamond trim -- as you wrote above, probably best to see them in person though

I'm sorry I do not have pictures, but the ones submitted are representative. I still think that it is the right choice for a black interior as the wood options don't seem to match. The brushed aluminum of the 3 series would be my first preference but is not available.

Many thanks Frank ! BJ is arranging a few cars with the options to look at this afternoon, I really wish that they did'nt discontinue the Alum/cubed... to my eyes it was the perfect trim for a black interior and white exterior.......... oh well .
