You should be able to find some of my old post with more detail but....from memory:
1006 titles on one DL-DVD (7Gb+); 1100+ on another; 1000+ on another (DVDs are divided by genre)
nested folders: i.e Artist, album, songs
Top level (artist) varied from 20 to 50 artists
next level (albums) about 12 max on any one artist
song titles about 25 max on any one album
~80% recorded at 320Kbs
~15% recorded at 256Kbs
~5% recorded at 192Kbs
Thats about it. Recorded at various times using either NERO or iTunes (PC).

Well.....
I will try writing the DVD without any folders next.
Has anyone tried doing a dual layer DVD as well.
It appeasr that the navi disc is dual layer as it is 5.9GB so must be dual layer as they take up to 8.4GB
I have thought about just trying the tracks and see what happens but it is a lot easier ti use .read when it has folder names.
None of the folders are any deepe than 3 levels
CD name
Disc 1
Then track name.
I am still puzlled why some DVDs work and some dont.
Sometime the DVD drive reads a DVD and sometimes it doesnt.
It usually doesnt read it from start up.
It must just be the way i am writing the DVD

I susually use the same settings as someone has suggested on here for CDs as for DVDs (ISO9660/1999 Mode1 blah blah!)

Don't mean to butt in:
By files (refering to the original post) are you talking about songs? On a single layer DVD (4.7gb/4.4 playable) I got 740 songs at 192mbs. Thats 62 CD's anywhere from 45 to 100 mb's per CD.

I had my 530d upgraded to play mp3 files. All they did was a software upgrade. There was nothing physical, ie: no components to change. Works a treat.
However, some of my CDs won't play. Someone mentioned earlier that there is a thread on the optimum way to burn a CD. I can't find that thread. If you have any luck please reply.
Cheers

Hey all,
New to the forum. I had been using another BMW forum since I got my 2006 550 earlier this year, but I'm finding the content better here.
Anyway, my question is realted to playing music DVDs from the NAV slot. I burned a disc and for some reason the system will only play the MP3 songs. Anything I purchased from iTunes shows up as a file and it won't play. Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks!
