MP3s on DVD using professional navigation on idrive

When playing MP3 CD/DVDs in random mode is there a way to skip to next track? When I hit next on CD or steering wheel it disables the random function and will play from current song sequentially.

i was thinking about this too but dont think you can, i think when they decided to put mp3 functionality into the older cars they decided on a low feature set to make it eaiser to do
Here's how I think you can make it work. If you're already in "random all" mode and you don't particularly like the current song, press the the i-drive knob to bring up the little pop-up menu and hit "random all" again. In a couple seconds it will switch.

no it just seams to fail to play a song, some times plays for ages with out problems other times it fails, dont know why
The weird thing I noticed this morning was in "random all" it played the exact same songs as yesterday. It took 3 songs before I realized something was amiss. So I went to a completely different artist/song and it randomed in a different direction...

i tried that, once random all is selected its grey`d out so it can`t be selected again
You are correct sir, yes! Tried it this morning. However I will say that when I went from reverse to drive, it was no longer grayed out. So you seem to only have one chance. What's the deal with these BMW guys anyway?
I guess you can manually switch to another artist/song but that takes the randomness out of it, doesn't it. So, here's what you do. Close your eyes...

You should be able to find some of my old post with more detail but....from memory:
1006 titles on one DL-DVD (7Gb+); 1100+ on another; 1000+ on another (DVDs are divided by genre)
nested folders: i.e Artist, album, songs
Top level (artist) varied from 20 to 50 artists
next level (albums) about 12 max on any one artist
song titles about 25 max on any one album
~80% recorded at 320Kbs
~15% recorded at 256Kbs
~5% recorded at 192Kbs
Thats about it. Recorded at various times using either NERO or iTunes (PC).
