Hi,
I have started a new topic on this
http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=22735
I was told by BMW belgium that is would not be possible to
have MP3 playback on a Prof RADIO+NAV if you have a CD-Changer....
Is there anyone that has the same config like me and that CAN play mp3s ?
My config:
(bought on 2004-Sep)
* Prof RADIO + GPS (maps)
* Logic7
* 6 CD-Changer
Is would be a joke if what they said was true and I dont mind raising a huge stink if it is true..
I mean, when I bought my car, I bought it thinking I would have a car that can play MP3's
and for the 63000 Euros I spent on it you'd think it would be possible, right ?

I have your configuration except for the Logic 7 and I can play MP3 on a 530D built in 08/04.

I suggest to see this too:
MP3 works on Nav Pro 04 build
and this:
MP3 enable on 04 build Nav Pro
Here you can see various screens of MP3 on a 09/2004 build (mine) at the end of this page:
MP3 screens on iDrive
In order to have more characters without underscore on iDrive screen
How to burn MP3
In order to have Directories and files name with space (and no underscore) and some special caracter I find out that using nero burning ROM it is better to set ISO 9660:1999 and all is working fine .

Hi Art,
first of all: There is NO bus radio WITH nav!!!
Here is what is possible:
radio bus / no nav
radio pro / no nav
radio pro / bus nav
radio pro / pro nav
Now:
E60's built before March 2005 are not able to get MP3 playback!
BUT: You can let the dealer try to activate it. If he can activate MP3 playback, you will experience problems!! MP3 playback is not possible with a fully functional nav pro, or the nav pro is working correct and the MP3 is not. Anyways: In the most cases, MP3 can't even be activated on E60's built before March 2005!
Just the facts...

Iceman,
I was upgraded to 20.01 today. Mine is a feb-04 built E61 (one of the first) Norway Spec and has the lots (Nav Pro, L7, CD changer etc. etc.)
And ... it works fine with mp3
And there is no question it is mp3 with over 35 songs on a CD and I burnt it myself.
/Henrik
P.S.
Forgot to mention that I explicitely requested for the mp3 functionality to be enabled in addition to the upgrade to PROGMAN 20.01.
/Henrik

Hi
Had load of computer programs on my 12/03 E60 530D with Business Sat Nav. The garage upgraded the software - took two days. Read the forum regarding MP3's - and out of interest inserted an MP3 DVD - and it plays!
Thanks for improving my in car experience!
java script:emoticon('', 'smid_4')

Excuse me all but what is the difference between Pro nav and Business Nav?
And how do I find out which ones I have. My car arrived at the dealer on 6/7/2006 but I will be picking it up next week so I can't see for myself.
Also since my car was built on after May 2006 and I have navigation I would assume mine will play MP3?
Thanks for your answers!
