We're wondering about early build MY2004 w/o Nav in US. Is software update going to help? Anyone?

Thanks

Any US build E60s before March 2005 Non-Nav cars have Business Radio so no MP3 capability...

It's wise to wait for mid-year facelift and get new 550i then. There would be iPod integration or MP3 capability, faster/better Nav, back-up camera, bug-fixes, etc.

The MP3 player is great, just a shame the nav dvd has to be changed on the bus. nav, and doesnt work in the CDC. Does anyone know the macimium bitrate it will support - all my music is in lossless FLAC at the mo - I have been transcoding it to 192kbps MP3 for compatibility.

Improvements to be made:
1) Play in CDC - may not be possible - on old beemers the link was an ibus lead for control, and an audio feed
2) Track name to display in the status bar, instead of MP3.
3) More than 255 mp3s. This would be great (even better than an ipod maybe) if a DVD could be crammed full of music.

I don't think this would be better than an iPod at all. BMW already has the necessary code to integrate the iPod fully into iDrive for display and control. Once they do, you could have the iPod inside of your glovebox, and do all display and control on up to 60GB of music without having to replace your nav DVD.

Now, if BMW never gives us iPod support, I agree: a DVD full of music would be great. But even that makes an assumption: that BMW will remove the 239 file limit. But I'd sooner see full iPod integration. And given the numerous competitors that now offer full integration, I'd expect, or at least hope, that BMW will do something about this.

Does the MP3 functionality support nested folders? I would hope so, but just wondering. Did anyone ever find out why that one owner could not display long filenames or the MP3 tag info? Does anyone know what the restrictions are for the MP3 Tags? Thanks!

It looks like the cars with Pro Radio but no navigation can display long filenames. Based on what we've seen so far, it *might* be the case that cars WITH Pro Nav/CCC might not support long filenames. I'll know today when I pick up my car...

Just got 19.2, I'll ck if MP3 works in mine. By the Way, what is the pyramid symbol next to the cell phone beacon?
I've got 19.0.2, and I just tried it in mine. It doesn't work.

I have a 2006 530i,produced on5 September, with software version 19.02 and it works just fine. Even with full file names. When the MP3 songis playing you see the artist and title. Any other timeyou see the first five letters.
By the way I have pro nav and Logic 7.
It is about time!!!!!!!!!!

I know there have been some more deliveries since the last post, has anyone else tried playing MP3 CD's in the Pro Nav CD player?

Do long filenames work?

Are ID3 Tage read properly (song info/artist)?

When was your car built?

Thanks in advance.
