Hi everyone! I'm new in this forum which I have been lurking for months now. I just want to know if your CD players and/or changers play MP3 files (music). My dealer cannot answer this question. A simple yes or no will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome aboard, Diego Pros !

No MP3 support yet.

Cars without nav and cars with nav bus (not avaailable in the USA) can get it with a software upgrade in March.

All other cars get it with a software upgrade in September.

Do you know what software version will include this feature in march, Iceman?

As it seems pretty commonplace here, I have to inform my dealer of these updates. I don't know why delares don't read service bulletins/updates from BMW, considering it's their job. It was pretty sad about 2 months ago when I called 5 different dealers in the NYC area and nobody knew what the aux. input was. I had to fax everyone the info sheet from BMW just to prove to them that it actually does exist.

FWIW, the review of the 2006 530xi posted below indicates the CD changer will play mp3s...

Thank you Iceman for your warm welcome and guys for your replies.
I was able to speak with another dealer in a different garage who said that if I have the Professional Nav on the 2006 530i then the CD player does read MP3.

In the end all E60's will get MP3. So don't let your dealer get you into a nav system if you don't need it. To me this is just a cheap sales trick.
On the other hand, nav pro is quite something!

Yes, I thought so too garehaan, but he disapproved me getting the SMG, said if you want comfort and smooth drive go for auto... then again I said he may have a point.

Yes, iPP, it must be boring and doubtful to use a nav sys with arrow directions as in the Business Nav. Atleast in the professional you get to see a colored road map.

No and that's just plain silly. BMW needs to steal away some tech. workers from Honda to get the technology to integrate properly. The Honda/Acura system is still the best on the market. BMW should be flat out embarassed with the MP3 thing.
