Belgium and Dutch E60 don't have the option of setting of the alarm with your remote controll. So if you open your trunk with the remote and hold it for 30 seconds your alarm will not go off..

In the USA this will set af the alarm because the trunkrelease button is also the panicbutton..

Thanks 530E60NL, I thought I was missing something. I think over here we don't panic that much that we need a button for it

Why o why did BMW feel the need to make the alarm go off if you try to open the trunk remotely and hold the button for over 3 seconds. WHYYYYYY! Is there a fix for this? Can i disable this DAMN feature! Its been over a year since i've had the car, and i still worry when doing it remotely "Will the alarm go off". This feature makes me FURIOUS!

Must say that I have never had the alarm go off when opening the boot (trunk) remotely with the button on the key, even if held longer than 3 seconds.

Not a problem with EU E60's

In my E60 the only annoying thing is the engine, I'm missing two cylinders

I feel exactly the same way. Even though I seldom set off the alarm these days, I still worried every time I opened the trunck with the remote. BMW should put another recessed button on the back of the remote for the panic function.
