When did they make the manual fold-up mirror switch available for the US-based cars?

Just wanted to share something that i just knew today after an engine oil change at the dealer.....my side mirrors can now fold just by a press of the lock button on the keyfob...

so, the dealer went into 'key management' with the SSS computer and activated 'auto-fold function'.....and u know what, i can now fold my side mirrors just by pressing the lock button on my key ...well, actually a long press of the lock button...but, it certainly is cool man...I recommend any forum member having the folding function of the side mirrors to go ahead and activate the function...
Thanks for the update Im doubting as im asking however, this place never ceases to amaze me, has anyone confirmed this ALSO works with the Comfort Access option? (touch the door handle to auto fold/unfold mirrors upon locking/unlocking)

I think MY07, but definately on the LCI MY08. It's standard on the 550 and part of the optional Premium Package on the other models.

Not only has it not been confirmed for use with Compfort Access, but it has not been confirmed for North American cars. Up to this point, a few people in Europe have got this to work, but no one yet in the US. My service advisor says it cannot be done here. No idea why . . .

In Australia at least, all mirrors are not equal. There are different exterior mirrors on various models. 520d, 523i and 525i have 'standard' external mirrors. 530i/d, 540i and 550i have "interior and exterior mirrors with anti-dazzle function" which are optional on the other models.

These latter mirrors are the ones that have the fold-in function. You know when you have them because there is a button for this on the arm-rest. This button is mentioned in the U.S. manual on this forum under the mirrors section - but doesn't provide much detail.

Interesting that I asked my dealer to 'program' this function for me on my fob as part of pre-delivery for my car which has arrived in the country and due for delivery next week, and she said "it is not something that is programmable to the key". Not sure if this is becuuse I have Comfort Access or the dealer is wrong - I am hoping the latter. I guess I'll know in a weeks time...

...but at a certain speed they do.
And that speed would be 26mph in the USA...

I am working with a team of engineers in Germany on speed deactivated fog lights. If it is foggy, you should not be driving fast. At 26 mph, fog lights will be deactivated. Should be effective next software update. Like the seat belt chimes, there will be way around this feature.

I have the anti-dazzle mirrors but not the comfort access option and did not think dealer had to do any programming on the remote access gadget. Think this folding mirror feature just came with it. Real useful feature to have especially when parking in very narrow spaces.
