Piece of Cake and takes about 5min for complete job. Each filter cost me about £30 from the dealer (3M) and I fitted them. You local indy cant reset the iDrive for a small fee I would guess.

What is the most filter that people use instead of the ebay one. Is there something that actually clean the air instead of that weird smell in the beginning.

Was there ever a resolution to the reset setting the interval to 100,000 miles when DIY? I recently had done mine and when I saw the 100,000 I searched around but never really found an answer whether the 100,000k interval was right or if I did something wrong?

I don't have any weird smell from mine and they were purchased off eBay.

When I turn my AC on for the first 10 sec it has this weird odor smell, so I guess I am going to change mines out and see how it goes. Guess I'll get mines from ebay as well.

Got both of them from Amazon for $25. When you take out the old ones, you can spray some deodorant while the a/c is running (preferably something that will kill mold/mildew/etc..I used Lysol) into the opening making sure the a/c is not on recirc(otherwise the intake flaps will be closed). That should take care of any musty odors.

Does anyone know if this MicroFilter service message is based on mileage driven, or the actual condition of the filter?

My iDrive told me to replace it two weeks ago, but this morning somehow it says there is another 1500 miles before I need to change it. My filters are about 18 months old.

Thanks.
