I guess I'm just getting old. The last transmission I actually worked on only locked the convertor up in 4th (top) gear which pretty much bypassed everything in the trans and made it essentially direct drive at that point. Anyways, hopefully this reflash fixes it, however, my wife just brought it home and says first gear feels funny. Tomorrow will tell I guess.

 

FYI - Only E60 LCI's with the Sport Auto tranny do not shift to 6th while in sport mode. The regular Steptronic shifts to 6th in DS mode.

 

I believe your wrong on this one. Both my 525 and 545 stay in 5th while in DS and both are 05 models.

Aaaaaaaaand, it's still broke. Still surges in 5th but also noticed when hot out it will surge in the lower gears as well. Also violently slips from 4th to 5th under heavy acceleration and puts threatening messages up on the idrive screen. Back to the dealer I guess

 

my 06 550i goes to 6th in DS.

 

I have now noticed that I get the surge while in 5th gear in ds mode, around 60 mph. Very irritating. We need a fix for this. Maybe if we start a forum complaint petition, and get enough signatures, we can get some resolution faster.
