Ok so I did the test and it seems to grab just fine...the back of the car bounces just like you said. So just so I was clear this is what happens. If I'm driving normal in 2nd or 3rd gear. My rpms are at 3000 and then I put the gas to the floor with my foot completely off the clutch of course. It's will rev and still move and then the rpms go back down a little and Then it starts to really move as it normally should.

I just drove very carefully and without "getting on it" for a week and it seemed to heal itself. I drove it for 5000 more miles but traded it before spending the money on a new clutch. I assume BMW replaced it re the CPO process before the next owner but you never know.

When you pull off in 1st gear do you have to have quite high rpms just to get the car moving (for example it feels as if you are pulling away in 3rd gear rather than 1st?), otherwise it stalls? A classic sign of a worn clutch plate. Also as you change gear is there any grinding sound as if the clutch is not engaged properly?
Or do your problems only happen under acceleration when the clutch is NOT depressed? In your example you say you are cruising at 2000rpm and then you accelerate hard and the revs drop (am I right?).

Ah after reading this I have better understanding of the problem. What happens is you press hard on the gas and the revs shoot upwards? Then they drop back to normal and the car begins to accelerate? So basically when your accelerating it feels as if your accelerating with the clutch pedal slightly depressed? If that is the case then yes it is your clutch. In your 1st post I thought you meant that when you accelerated the revs went DOWN.

So after finally driving in dry road conditions I have encountered a problem. Say for example if I'm in 2nd gear cruising say at 3000 rpm. If I hammer on my gas it will rev for about 750 rpm and then go...I have a 2004 545i 6spd. So basically I'm just wondering if any of you have encountered this. I plan to take it to my mechanic on Monday by it's bothering me so just trying to get it out.
another way of testing is try to drive off on 3rd or 4th gear, if it does not accept, its a definite clutch kit...

Ok so it's been diagnosed that I do need a new clutch. I was looking today and could only find an oem one. If you guys know of any aftermarket good clutches that can support more pressure please let me know. Thanks

oem should suffice. i wouldnt go nuts buying an aftermarket clutch. you will spend a lot of money and your car will be miserable to drive in traffic and you will have NO added benifit over an OEM @ stock power. what you may be interested in looking into is an OEM spec aftermarket clutch for the purpose of saving $$
