hello

i have 2004 BMW 530i with 89000 miles on it now.

i need to get major tune up, just to keep everything running smooth.

i would like everyone's input on this. on what i should get done.
like what oil i need to change, tranny flush, what belts i need to change, etc.

am not taking my car to a local bmw dealers since they charge arm n leg for service.

all input on this is helpful

thanks

You should be able to go to the dealer and get the print out for the 100k maintenance.

I think they recommend the following:
oil change
cabin filters
02 sensor
spark plugs
They also inspect suspension, belts, brakes, top off fluids and clean the car up.

If you have not done a brake fluid flush or a radiator flush, you should do that also.

Most of this you can do yourself.

Find a good indy BMW shop and talk to them also. They know much more than the dealership - they just do everythiing that is told to them by the book, if it is needed or not.

I highly recommend a transmission and differential flush.

Here are a couple of helpful links for maintenance:

Fuel filter for sure, and the rear diff oil as Targa mentioned.

And this may be over the top, but I pull the injectors and send them out for flow matching every 90k on my cars. Costs $100.

+1 on this. Its amazing how much lost power can be found by balanced/blueprinted injectors. Cost is only $100 and turn around is usually quick.
Also, the transmission filter and pan should be part of same housing. Use factory transmission oil only, its a special blend Shell, not available anywhere but the dealer.

Try Newport BMW or Tischer BMW. Both have excellent prices.
