My Ride: Arrived 3 June 2005: 2005 545i - Orient Blue, Black interior, Sport, Steptronic, Cold Weather, NAV, Sirius, Logic7, Comfort Seats, Sunshades. What a glorious ride!
I got about 475 on one tank in my 545i. Got a little concerned about running on "fumes and the memory of gasoline," as an old friend once said.

With chip tuning you allways get better results, and with Diesels too. Having a chipped Diesel, you get the absolute best result...

On track consumption is close 20 l/100 km.
Big car accelerating whole time eat lot of fuel. 
Power does not come from only air. I think specific consumption with diesels is something close 100g / hp.Skaffa

Average - 450 to 500 Miles between fuel stops. Mixed city and motorway driving, some aggressive too .
I notice my mpg drops after my wife has driven it!!
