Hi

Had my 06 520D serviced in Dublin in Feb- cost $700. A mth later vehicle inspection light came on. Back into delaer - another $190. Had a toe-to toe witht he service director . I asked him why the vehcile check wasn't done at service in feb, he replied it would have been premature. I retorted that this was a cynical way to generate revenue as he would not get away with charging $900 in one go at service if this incorporated a vehicle check. I Ireland the new car market is dead especially premium brands so they are concentrating on generating service revenue to keep dealerships afloat. These guys reaally take the shine off the ownership experience for me. The car is exceptional even after 3 1/2 yrs of ownership

Can I ask has anyone else experiencded this or is the vehicle check usually incorporated ionto a service?

standard practice for a non-honest dealership..desperate times call for desperate measures.

makes me want to hurt them...but that would be uncivilized

Yeah, meant euros but don't know how to get the symbol on my keyboard. I see you have a 2008 model. When you get near the vehicle check service requirement don't let the dealer ripm you off. As far as i can see from the manual it's a cursory check of suspension, brakes , lights and tyres which in anyones language should be part of any basic service. It's a total scam and detracts from the otherwise excellent ownership experience. dealer was Frank Keane Naas Rd. I'm not sure if a three yr service package includes the vehicle check.

all garages unless you know the owner will clean you out. I sent my 530d in for a query to a southside dublin vag indo....190 euro for a diagnostic.

then another place which is very much recommended to get a breather fitted 300euro plus which included checking a few bits and pieces.....pure rip off. I could have done the breather myself. 200 euro labour for say an hours work. They washed the car to make me feel good about the bill....

Something about a e200 carwash that makes you feel you've been taken advantage of . Once bitten!

My car is soon going in for the first time service, and for 300 Euros.

I know what I get, and a small guarantee matter will be fixed as well.

Have taken quotes from many BMW services, even from abroad.

My own dealer will do the service with Mobil 1-oil.

Hi Brad, press 'alt gr' (sixth key from the left bottom row) and '4' keys for ?.

Service pack covers covers all standard services recommended by obc for 100k km/5 years except tyres and wipers.

I busted a tyre in a pot hole recently,cost ?240 for a replacement Goodyear 17''.

Regardless,thats the joys.

Happy motoring
