Symptoms just started today. I start the car and within 30 seconds the normal fan noise gets louder and louder. Looked under the car and where the main radiator fan is and dont see any obstructions or debris. It sounds like its stuck on high or somthing. Will call my local dealer and make an appointment to get it checked out. Just wondering if you guys have any ideas or expierience with this problem. thanks

from what i have exprienced and know...that fan only turns on when the car is hot...it does sound loud and clearly noticed,,,but i should switch off automaticly in a few minutes as soon as the engine cools down...
is that what is happening or is it stuck always on..

try turning off A/C. If the noise goes away, it's probably the A/C compressor. Take it to dealer.

took it into the dealer and they first said its normal and that alot a e60 owners complain about it. they said they would take it in and check it to see if anything is wrong. I know for a fact that the fan that loud after sitting in the garage all night is not normal. Will post an update for any future problems anyone else might have

that true...if the engine is stoped for anything over 30 mins and you start the car and 30 seconds later the fan starts....something is not right...dont forget to keep us updated....
