Unhappy Looking for local indy shop (Southern California)

Hi all,

I'm currently looking for a Indy shop who has worked on E60 transmissions. I'm getting transmission fault and I believe it's the transmission solenoids that are bad. I own a 2007 525i which I've had for the past 4 years. About 2 years ago i started to get some transmission issues that i can't figure out.

90% of the time the transmission shifts smoothly but sometimes it jerks from 4-5; 5-6 and this usually happens on D. Once it's on DS or manual it gets better and the jerking is here and there (not often). I have read and people have had success with replacing these solenoids and wanted to ask the forum if anyone has ever worked on it to please let me know. I'm located in southern California (Orange County) but I’m willing to drive for the service.

Thanks in advance!

I did a similar service with bimmerPHD over in Pasadena. After sending instructions + parts from Klaus ( CTSC ) over to them, they did a great job replacing solenoids, gaskets, seals, transmission pan, and fluids. My car's still doing fine today, and it's almost 2 years since the repair.

The cost was better than doing a mechatronics replacement or a transmission replacement.

Please note that they would not warranty their work with me, but I took the risk and it appears to have worked out well for me.

I have since found a decent mechanic closer to me ( German Auto Sport in Santa Monica ), but not sure about this particular shop's strength with solenoid replacement.

Good luck.

You'll find logs of my transmission adventure here. There's a link to a thread by Vapiano which covers the exact list of services done. It's at the very bottom of the page.

Both shops are easily found with a simple google search.

You are in Santa Ana. I would recommend Bullet Performance in Costa Mesa. 714-556-4269. Been going to them for 10 years. Always serviced me right.
