I didn't have my camera with me that night, but I'll take it with me tonight when I go out. We're driving up to Shanghai this afternoon to buy some Western style food from Wal-Mart. I look forward to using a fork again.

Wall Mart SUCK! Try to find Carrefour or Metro they have much better selection. Unfortunately Metro is whole sale. But normally there is people outside with they whole sale cards. Also there is good (small) market downstairs Portman Hotel. Excellent salted beef!!

Try also that Brasilian Barbecue (Churrascaria Rod?zio) in XinTianDi area. With about 60,-RMB You eat as much as You can all kind of meat. (sorry if You are a weg! )

Of course Nanjing Lu You can find Delis which sell all kind western stuf with very high prices.

I try to find one 530Li here, what should not be difficult because there seem to be one front of hotel every day.

"As Rudy might say, please use the search function tongue.gif"

And we all regulars know that this is quite old news, but maybe too old so that all have not seen it.

Well over 50% of all 7ers sold in the US are the long wheelbase version.

Average height by country men/women:

China 5' 6"/5' 2"
US 5' 10"/5' 4"
Germany 5' 8"/5' 3"
Netherlands 5' 11"/5' 5"
UK 5' 10"/5' 4"
France 5' 8"/5' 3"

I'll take the theory that Chinese owners are not owner-drivers. I guess the owners don't appreciate a good driving machine.

Well, I go to China alot for work/business and I think the average height doesn't really apply to China. It's over a billion people and northern people are pretty tall. Remember, China isn't a 'single ethnic race' country so to speak.. There are Han, Man, Mong, Hui, Zhang, Miao, Yao, Bai, ZhaoXian peoples that make up a single country.... (Kinda like Europe and its German, French, English, Italian, etc) Hmmm.. I think I've got them all.. not sure though. And the height varies according to geographic and ethnic variables.

Also, I don't quite get that theory of owner-drivers of yours. I have lots of business associates over there driving Ferraris, Masaratis, BMWs, etc and they do know their cars.

In China car big cars are status symbols, and many of them are chauffeur driven. Size matters and they don't seem to care much about engine size, as gas cost more than chauffeur. Those who need to drive around with people on board often drive small mini vans, mostly Toyotas or Toyota clones, some can seat up to 12 or 13 with fold-out seat extensions. Many (not all) who drive sports cars simply use them to show off their money.

Hong Kong is a different story. I've seen more Porsches and Ferraris per mile of road there than anywhere else I've been. Many of them are done up too. Lot of S500's there too and many of them are owner driven.
