IMHO . . .
If you're listening to Satellite Radio, MP3 files, FM Radio, or CDs the Logic7 is a fine system. If you're a true audiophile, you wouldn't be listening to any of those source inputs for your music. You'd limit Sirius to talk radio and baseball, abhor MP3, use FM to check in on the local traffic, and find a better headend than a legacy CD player. After you've installed a SACD or DVD-A or whatever, you'd start worrying about the 'other end' of the system.

Of course, if I was really an audio purest, I'd never listen to music outside of my accoustically perfect media room. And by the way, I don't have such a room as streaming 128 bit MP3s are good enough for my old ears.

I mean no offense to those who take their music reproduction and signal processing seriously. I do mean to suggest that beauty is in the ear of the listener.

You make good points. I am an audio purist, and music means a LOT to me. I buy 99% of the music I listen to on vinyl, and make my own mix CDs which I have mastered in my friends' studios. (Have two buddies with audio engineering degrees from Full Sail) So I'm used to the high sound quality from analog sources, then having that mastered. Not to mention, I listen to music styles which are VERY testing of the limits of an audio system. So, when I do push the Logic 7, I hear all the shortcomings such as distortion from processing, and the distortion from pushing the components hard. I'm not used to these limitations because my last car had a $16,000+ system in it. So the Logic 7 does not blow me away. It's just like I said... The logic 7 is good compared to other OEM systems. It's not good compared to what I'm used to.... and I just wish it wasn't so freaking difficult to put in the type of system I want. And it's annoying to me that in order to find a vehicle that does allow easy aftermarket changes to the stereo, means I have to make a serious step-down in the quality of the car. I want a sweet car, with a sweet stereo..... that's all. But I'm not going to drive an old, outdated piece of crap just to have a stereo. I love my BMW.

... you really can hear a huge amount bass from outside the car (which I guess is the twin subs under the seats doing their stuff) even though it sounds just great from the inside.

Yep.
It's funny. Outside the car it sounds weird.

Hey subterFUSE can you take a pic of how you Equalizer is "usually" set up on your car? I'm curious how it would sound differently. I know it depends on each CD and each song and etc etc but there must by a setting that you leave it on more than others. Mines just lays pretty much flat across the equalizer, I cant tell the instant difference when I change the settings a couple nothes up or down.

Just curious how it would sound if I run with your setting for a few days.

I know L7 has 13 speakers compared to HiFi's 10 and where the extra 3 speakers are situated but can anyone tell me if the 10 on HiFi are the same 10 fitted with L7? If you were to try and upgrade to L7 would you just need the other 3 speakers plus rear door covers, L7 amp and software changes?

I don't think that the HiFi has the two Sub's underneath the 2 front seats...
And the HiFi doesn't have the center speaker in the dash, so there are your
3 speakers i think...

It does have subs under the seats. It doesn't have rear door mid range speakers and the one in the centre of the dash.
